Morning Assembly

 

A day commencing with submission, provides us internal strenght and courage to speak the truth. In view of this pliosphy, the college provides experience to the students. This assembly is held on Tuesdays/fridays by the diffrent houses. Morning assembly provides the students a forum to deviate from the routine and get training in organizing functions in the schools. The house leaders are responsible for the preperation and smooth conduct of this functionb. The tutor/ house incharge is availble to the student for guidance in sequencing the programme. These functions are indicators of organizing abilities and self discipline of the students. The best house, declared on the basis of over all performance throughtout the year, is awareded a running trophy at the end of session.

Tours and Excursions

     One of the annual features of the institution is to arrange various recreational tours and excursions. Students visit various places of historical, religious and educational values. These trips help the students to develop the various aspects of their personality.

2014-2015

   Under the Educational Tour and Excursion Programme Activity, M.G.N. College of Education, Jalandhar, organized a 4-days tour to JimCorbettNational Park and Nainital. 39 students and 4 teachers including Dr Deepa Sikand Kauts, Mr Gagandeep Sharma, Mrs Pooja Bhardwaj and Ms Mandeep Dosanjh visited various places of scenic beauty in the viscinity of JimCorbettNational Park and Nainital. The purpose of the visit was to make the students aware about the need of wild life conservation and to know about the phenomenon of biodiversity, which is having prime place in the world agenda of this year. It was also aimed to spread awareness about the National Project ‘Save Tiger’.

     In Nainital, students visited HistoricalTemples and National Zoo. They also went for boating in NainiLake which was 120ft deep. Students also visited Haridwar where they vitnessed the largest river of India ‘The Ganga’ from the famous river ghaat ‘Har Ki Paudi’ and came to know about its religious and social importance. Dr Deepa Sikand Kauts, tour incharge coordinated the tour arrangements.

2013-2014

 

 

     All the B.Ed. students  of the college went to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthla on 11 -2-2014. This trip was organized by M.Ed. students.

   

2012-2013

      Under the Educational Tour and Excursion Programme activity, M.G.N. College of Education organized a Seven Days tour to Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Pushkar and Mount Abu. 40 students and 5 teachers along with Principal Dr Amit Kauts visited various historical monuments likeUday Palace, Dilwara Jain Temples, Ranakpur Jain Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari etc. Students also visited the range of Thar desert.The purpose of the visit was to make students aware about our rich culture and heritage and also acquaint them with Indian philosophies especially the Jain Philosophy. Dr Deepa Sikand Kauts and Mr.Gagandeep Sharma co-ordinated the tour arrangements

2011-2012
    One day Educational Trip was organized on 22.3.2012 to Fatehgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib and Virasat-E-Khalsa. The purpose of the trip was to aware the students about the enrichded culture of Punjab. 108 students and 12 teachers witnessed the cultural heritage of Punjab state during the trip.
 
2010-2011
      A Five Day tour to Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar and Ranthambhor Tiger Reserve. 40 students and 10 teachers along with Principal Dr Amit Kauts visited various historical monuments like Hawa Mahal, built in 1979 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, City Palace and SMS Museum, a beautiful blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture Amer Fort again a fine blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture built by Raja Man Singh, Birla Planetarium, which offers unique audio-visual education about stars and entertainment with its modern computerized projection system. Students also enjoyed the movie along with the beauty of Raj Mandir Theater.

 
      Students also visited the beautiful water palace, 6km on the way to Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, which is set in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The only existing temple of Lord Brahma in Asia, which is situated in Pushkar is also visited by the students. Students also visited India’s most important Pilgrimage center for people from all faiths, Ajmer-e-Sherif Dargah, the shrine is next only to Mecca or Median for the Muslims of South Asia.
 
Students also enjoyed a Jeep Safari in Ranthambhor Tiger Reserve, situated in 400 sq.ft. area. The purpose of the visit was to make the students aware about the need of wild life conservation and to know about the phenomenon of bio-diversity. It was also aimed to spread awareness about the National Project ‘Save Tiger’.Students also spent time in ‘Chokhi-Dhani’ to have an exposure to Rajasthani culture.Dr Deepa Sikand Kauts and Mr. Gagandeep Sharma co-ordinated the tour arrangements

Convocation cum Prize Distribution

It is organized every second year to distribute degrees to its students.
 

 

  

 Sports Activities

 

The College has provided the facility of indoor and outdoor games to its students. Students have the facility of playing chess, carom, Chinese checker, badminton and table-tennis. Similarly, the college is also providing facility for some outdoor games like volley ball, kho-kho and football, cricket etc.

The annual sports meet is organized every year on the college campus, in which various athletic events are organized to promote the physical growth of the students.

54h Annual sports meet was organized on 14th March,2014. The chief guest on the  day was S. Gurpreet Singh Khera , Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar.

  Inter-House Competitions

 

 The Art club organizes competitions on Poster Making, Collage Making, Rangoli, Black Board Writing, Best out of Waste, Sketching, Model/Chart Making and Landscape etc. The Literary organized essay writing competitions, Quiz, and Debates etc.

 

  

 Youth Festival

The talented students selected from Talent Hunt and Inter House Competitions are sent to present their talents in the Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University to compete for various co-curricular activities

 

 

 

Talent Hunt

The college organizes Talent Hunt Show in which pupil teachers exhibit their potential for expression in drama, poetry, quiz competition, declamation, debate, skit, folk song, speech, stage compering, and fine art. It is meant to identify the talented students so that their talents are polished and they could be sent to participate in youth Festival and inter-college competitions.

Lohri

 Alumni Function

 

The alumni meet once in a year and the executive board meets twice a year for futuristic planning of the activities of the Alumni Association. The members share their memories and enjoy cultural function.
